The Lifesong is a creative retelling of the Book of Nehemiah from the Bible coupled with songs from the Psalms of Ascent (Ps. 120-134). You will hear of Nehemiah’s return to Jerusalem to rebuild the wall, his struggle against enemies, and his efforts with Ezra to reform and renew Israel’s covenant with God. Each of the 15 chapters of the story is paired with a different psalm which is sung by the characters, making a total of 30 tracks. The chapters and songs all average about 5 minutes each.
Much of the story adheres to the biblical text; and yet, creative license is used in order to weave the psalms into the context of the story. You will also encounter biblical themes in the story such as persistent prayer, the building of God’s kingdom, unity among God’s people, victory over enemies, sin and repentance, corporate worship, family life, and friendship. A standalone album of just the Psalms of Ascent without the story of Nehemiah is also available. May the Lord lavish you with the water of his Word through this book.
